grey unmarked volvo on bridge

[craigw]

8am on way to vmax yesterday there was a grey volvo on a bridge on M1 pointing some sort of camera and what looked like a large black metal/glass disc to the side of it pointing at the traffic.

Anyone heard of this before ? Plod/scamera ??

Sounds like ANPR, might be a survey system

Would anyone agree with me that ANPR operations need to make themselves known and clearly distinguisable from the scamers so as not to risk causing accidents unnecessarily?......

ANPR usualy has police backup dosen't it?

I guess they could do that if they are admitting that scams cause accidents.
