Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on something I saw on the way in to work this morning.

In Wimbledon, heading along the Broadway and then around Hartfield Road at 8:50 this morning was a bit of a convoy. 2 met 5 series in front, then an unmarked green Defender (3 door, solid panel rear windows), then a further two 5 series - the last one hanging back a bit.

They were clearly escorting the Landie, but does anyone know who/what would have been in it? Had a quick look in as they passed me, but can't say I recognised the driver or passenger...

Whilst in London recently I saw something similar.. loads of 5-series (why do the met have so many of these?) escorting one of those comedy Malaysian 'luxury cars' like a Hyundai XG.

Curious. If I was the VIP I'd rather be riding in the cop car!

I had a run in with an unmarked X5 in the City recently. Was on my bike and nipped in behind a Jag and the next thing I know this black X5 had barged past me nearly taking me off. Furious, I got on the horn and gave the driver some verbal until he reached down and produced his police badge at the window and nodded towards the Jag. Sure enough, Two Jags himself was sat in the back and even waving at passers by like some kind of royalty!

This guy gets about.

Lunchtime, heading down the M3 (southbound) past Basingstoke, on the northbound carriageway there was a Silver (Met?) marked 5 series sweeping with another 2 or 3 behind around a green LR defender. As they were not Hampshire cars and heading to London I wondered if the Defender was HRH or similar.

In rush hour traffic? They were making their way through stationary traffic by getting people to move aside with the lights and siren (very safely, I must add), and the were in Wimbledon town centre at an extra busy time...

Sounds like the same lot, certainly. I was wondering whether I'd had my closest brush with royalty or not. Couldn't think of a reason they'd be heading through Wimbledon though.

Interesting stuff.

Could you fill me in a bit more on TPAC training, DVD? What would a 'typical' exercise consist of? (I'm sure you've got better things to be doing with your time, but I'm intrigued! )

This came in after my time but I understand that it's a bit like fox
hunting.

Tally ho.Bogey is located, chased in a safe manner and pack moves in and around to contain and successfully bring to a safe stop. The only brush however is with the Law.....

...or the safe, unimpeeded escorted passage of a person of risk (from either side)through traffic to the intended destination.

Question Fif: How do you get anorze into a Landrover??????

With difficulty, unless it's a Shetland.
