Discussion
I was out in my car earlier today and going down a 60mph road, and oh look its the 40mph crew out for a tootle about you know 40 in a 60 40 on the motorway 40 in a 30 etc so i pulls out to get past booted it a little to get past a couple of others now im unsure if i was speeding but there was a police camera van on the verge
but i was on the other side of the road overtaking, do they "see" both sides of the road or just the one lane im a bit unsure. Cheers Gaz

Cheers GazThe vans target your front number plate and can get you on either side of the road. It's a laser-based device and takes a reading from the reflected signal. The operator has to accuratelt 'aim' the cross-hairs on his scope at your number plate and the photo with the speed on is then automatic when he pulls the trigger. The range is considerable too.
It was on a nice stretch of road, i came out the bend and had around 1.5 mile of straight as hell road to get past so i did lol i hope i dont get punished grrrrr ive traveled the same road for years and afaik never any major problems or accidents no houses or anything just fields either side oh and a nice wide verge to park ya van on
my mate had a similar situation when he sold his old VW van, guy left a £3k deposit, he then kept delaying when he was going to pick the van up, and after phoning the guy and finding he was away on holiday, he sent a "carefully worded" letter, and the money was forthcoming with suprising speed!
