I know of no-one who's been done by them and I regularly speed through them with apparent impunity. Do they even work?

Jeez I thought this was gonna be some convoluted plot to catch the cleaner when she hit 85mph of strumming speed ...

Still the look on her face when the second flash went off would be worth the effort of setting it up

No you cant - perhaps you should rename yourself to something more appropriate for posting, like 'CleanersBean' or something subtle like that

actually serious response guy at work was caught doing 55 (I think) in a 40 coming on at chertsey heading towards the A3. This was 3 years or so ago.

HTH

Now can I reccomend using one of the digital VSL cameras for the cleaner as these alledgedly don't run out of film

I got flashed doing a very naughty speed when the VSL gantries were not illuminated, thankfully received nothing in the post and again, this must have been 3+ years ago. I regularly drive this stretch and can honestly say that I haven't noticed anyone getting flashed for a very long time now.
I see something of a theme developing here.
