There's two or three new (currently hooded) Gatsos been installed on the M4 between J17 & J18 (Chippenham to Bath) in advance of more roadworks!
Last year, similar roadworks (for the installation of fibre-linked 'driver information signs'!) were subject to a (unreasonably low) 40mph limit which apparently netted thousands for the SCP Christmas Fund....so be careful.

When in need you need to find the 'A' team!

Did I imagine it or did I see one underneath a bridge between the concrete pillars?

The speed limit along the M4 through the various never ending sets of roadworks is very much a joke these days, some are 40 some 50 and some stay at NSL.

You didn't imagine it .... that's where it is! (westbound)

edited to add - it's right where the roadworks start, and it's partially obscured by a large roadworks sign !

Limit is 50 for this set of roadworks, and caused a nice 2 mile tailback last night arounf 6pm. Shudder to think what it must have been like tonight.

I passed it eastbound about 4pm, and there was about a mile tailback then!

Yeah and I was stuck in it, anyway I had plenty of time to count the cameras, how exiting lol, there are 4. Took a pic of the sneaky one under the bridge.

Most interesting. I'd love to hear Spnracing's response.

Paul, did that info' get much/any publicity? I'd like to forward it to a Bristol newspaper. We currently have atleast 10 Gatsos on the local motorways so they might be interested.

Then give them this link:

It's in the form they need.

Went through there Eastbound on Sunday morning - very early. Saw the markings on the road as I went under the bridge at Jctn 18. I didn't see any speed limit signs and there were no roadworks on the Eastbound side then. Looks like the Eastbound works started on Monday. My question is - does anyone know when the Eastbound camera under the bridge at J18 went live please - 'cos I certainly saw no reason for it on Sunday. I know Westbound had started, but Eastbound ?

Working v. early Monday morning. Very unlikely to have been activated over the weekend, so i'd say you were fine.

It's live now.
My feckwit brother tested it out on his way to Dover early Thursday morning.
