I'm just watching a program on Men & Motors now called crime fighters border, and they are focussing on the isle of mann and the police force there.

Just had a little bit about speeding, and they seem so much more sensible than the enforcement here. This police officer caught a motorbike rider doing 52 in a 30! All he got was £250 fine and 3 points!

Obviously I'm not saying I would like to go over there just to speed, but it shows that they seem more sensible with regard to speed, over here had he been caught doing that speed he would have had been given a ban!

It just seems like a more sensible mentality on the issue of speed

I suggest you learn how to spell the name of the Island before trying to book a ticket there

Nothing wrong with going over there to speed, head out of the towns and you can do it all you like.

Thing is, you've really got to be nuts to get over 90 on the out-of-town bits. I went over there with a couple of mate last summer, and a combination of weather conditions, other road users and lack of detailed knowledge of the road meant that try as they might, my mates weren't able to drive significantly faster than you might on a twisty English B-road. They were driving an Audi S3 and Octavia vRS. The police have a reputation for hammering you for speeding through villages, and you can be done for driving like a muppet out of town. Nice place to visit though, very friendly.

Went there for the TT week a few years back. 140MPH on a long sweepeing bend on the mountain section and being overtaken (Mad Sunday and the Mountain section becomes 1 way for a few hours).

Superb place to go as long as you observe the town limits, but see the derestricted signs and you can go for it. I overtook several police vehicles and as long as you do it safely, then they don't have a problem.

Did 2000 miles in 10 days 1400 of those were on the island (it aint big but it is superb fun).

I must be a nutter then. Even I managed a few bursts if more than a 100mph around the Island - and I would have been able to stop. With some brown trousering I'm sure...

Been over the mountain road with it closed so you could go for it - no way was I going to try that hard on that. The consequences of error are just too great. At least if you stuff it up on a track there's a good chance you'll get away with it. Do it there and its a one way express elevator to hell - going down.

Fair play Don.

I can only speak from my experience, and as I say, 90-95 was the limit my mates achieved - they weren't able/prepared to push any harder, and I was pleased they didn't.
