As simple as that, application form going back today, ban stops on the 17th Feb, if it doesn't come back in time can I still drive my car legally and its just a case of the licence needs to be back to me at somepoint in case I need it for...... say a producers.

Or

Do I have to wait til its posted back out to me?

Cheers

you may have applied for one but you do not have one so no you cannot. There was a case recently iirc.

Your saying its the same as handing it in to change the address?? You don't have it temporarily so you can't drive until it comes back?

So say they lose it in the post I have to wait until I have it physically in my hand before Im let loose again?

DVLA site said:

15. Driving While We Have Your Form - First Applications

If you are applying for your first provisional licence of any type, you must not drive these vehicles until the licence arrives and comes into effect.
16. Driving While We Have Your Form - Other Applications

Once we have received your valid application, the law allows you to drive before the licence arrives as long as:

* you have held a GB or Northern Ireland licence issued since 1 January 1976 or another exchangeable licence
* you are not disqualified from driving (there are different rules for medium/large vehicles, minibus/bus drivers - the Traffic Commissioner for your area will decide whether to grant your entitlement to drive these vehicles)
* you have not been, and would not be, refused a licence for medical reasons
* you keep to any special conditions which apply to the licence

So not entirely clear in the case of a post disqual application, but you would be perfectly entitled to drive in the case of change of address.

Ban ends on 17th (last day) then from 0001hrs 18th no longer disqualified.

But DVLA say that in fact he is applying for a new Licence irrespective that the previous one issued was still valid on disqualification.

So providing DVLA state new Licence commences on 18th then he will be OK but won't know the commencement date until Licence received.

Could I ring them to find out when they would put the date on it?

Or should I sit tight?

Plus they will recieve the application in the next day or two, so in theory it takes a while to go throught the system but they should put the day after the ban lifts as the start date, surely....

Not a bad idea to give them a bell and see what authorisation they wiull give.

If they say OK MAKE SURE that you get the name/details of the person giving it.
