HELP HELP HELP SPEEDING HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!!!!

My brother got caught 'speeding' on the A45 a couple of weeks ago. He was alledgedly doing 58mph in a 50mph limit. However, the scamera that got him was in the middle of a bunch of 13 scameras in a ten mile stretch of road. He knew they were there as he does the journey all the time and he reckons he stuck to 50 the whole way through the run of 13 scameras. Could it be that this one scamera is not calibrated correctly as it seems strange that only one of the thirteen got him. Does anyone know how often scameras need to be calibrated for their 'evidence' to be admissable? Do the scamera partnerships have to prove the accuracy of their scameras etc.? Any advice please!

Jesus Polarbert, all i wanted was some advice, not abuse! Sorry to spam YOUR forum, i'll remember to send a personal message to you to ask you permission before posting in future! Any helpful replies appreciated.
sorry mate, just that you posted this 6 minutes after the first one, and it says exactly the same thing, so i dont see the point. i know its not my forum, but i just can't see the point in the posting the same thing twice
It didn't appear on my screen 1st time so i posted it again, then it appeared twice, simple as that. No SPAM intended. Now, if anyone actually has some advice rather than explaining forum etiquette to me it would still be greatly appreciated. Any advice on the subject Xiphias and Polarbert? Maybe I should move the post to Speed, Plod and the Law, or would that be considered spamming the forum again?

Everyone gets done for speeding, what makes you think you have a right to spam a forum?

something similar
Give the poor guy a break. And I doubt either of you has ever posted something on PH that could be construed as a waster of band-width? Hmmm? Live and let live for goodness sake.
In the first instance, he has 28 days to respond to the NIP. Use the time wisely and pay a visit to pepipoo, as advised already.
In the meantime, he should write a letter to the scammers requesting photo(s) 'to assist with identification of the driver'. Do not write ANYTHING incriminating. Keep it very short and to the point. So as to appear credible, I'd suggest sending this sooner rather than later. Do not leave it until the 28 days are almost up.
If the camera was a Gatso, you can use the distance travelled between the timing marks on the two photos to calculate the actual speed. If it was a Truvelo, and he was not speeding, then the photo should show his front wheels are not straddling the white lines. Either way, the photos should give a clearer indication of exactly what he may be up against..

If it's a Gatso, there is no calibration needed.
Just the small matter that the photos are supposed to be exactly .5 of a second apart to correctly judge the distance travelled.
Can the SCP prove that the camera is taking pictures exactly at the correct interval? Or should we just bend over and believe that these things are perfect, just like all other technology... oh wait...

If it's a Truvelo, forward facing camera, it's done by the tyres triggering sensors set in the road. Like the Gatso, but done electronically over a very short distance. No calibration required. An absolute measurement. Your tyre is on the sensor or it isn't.
For a Truvelo: the tyre will never be on the sensor in the photo, it will be within the first and third white verification lines (ideally on the second) for the measurement to be considered valid (for a front facing set-up). A rear facing setup will be similar to a Gatso, but with sensor strips instead of radar.

turbobungle said:I don’t think so (I stand to be corrected, try PePiPoo), but they do have to prove the accuracy of the sensor measurement by use of the secondary measurement (assuming they’re not notsoacurate)
Do the scamera partnerships have to prove the accuracy of their scameras etc.? Any advice please!
All you can do is calculate the secondary measurement and confirm the alleged speed (the numbers aren’t straightforward for a Truvelo)
