bus lane cameras
Discussion
Sometimes its a fixed camera, sometimes a gatso style grey box or sometimes covert monitoring from a Bus.
I'd write to them with your reasons and ask for a copy of the tape (or at least ask them to view it again so that they can see you were trying to avoid an obstruction in the carriageway. Best of luck.

Heh, all this wasted time, and its not just machines that are arbitrary...
We just got a ticket outside our own home.
Same traffic wardens see the same cars every damn day, on Friday I borrowed the parents car and since I'm not disabled, put the badge in the centre console and did my thing/paid the metre out in town.
Came back home, parked in the disabled bay and went in forgetting to put the badge back up.
5 minutes later see a traffic warden looking at the car, run out, put the badge on the dash, see the warden walking away... less than 15 seconds later I look out the window, there's a ticket on the windscreen and the wardens almost round the corner. Sneaky t
t must have run back and slapped a ticket on as soon as I turned my back on the car.
The bastard needs to fill his quota and fully admitted knowing the car had a badge/seeing me put it on the dash.
Well. its certainly not going to be paid, but really it's just annoying to have to go through these hoops just to park a car outside your own front door.

London Local Authorities Act 1996 as amended authorises GLC to issue Penalty Charge Notices in respect of Bus Lane infringements and captured on camera.
To enforce, a Traffic Regulation Order is required and made by the Local Authority. This will set out all matters in relation to the Lane and MAY contain exemptions i.e. to prevent accident, obstruction etc.
I have been through the LLLA 1996 and cannot find any exemptions listed within it but as I say it could well be that there may be within the Traffic Order which should be available to view at your LA Office. Ensure you see the full copy and not just bits.
I have been unable to pull up a specimen TRO on bus lanes.
In relation to the PCN issued make sure that you respond back to them within 14 days of the alleged offence so that you retain the option of paying the lesser penalty if offered.
