Same old M25 variable speed limit chestnut

Whoever sets the variable limit signs is clearly a comedian. Last week they seemed to change at random between 40, 50, 60 and NSL. No incidents, heavy traffic, nothing. I reckon they must have had a trainee on, being shown how to change the signs!
I think it's always been a bit like that. Those limit signs (the dot matrix ones) that have been about for years usually bear no resemblance to reality - and that means that people start to ignore them.
I've not been on the M25 ones but I have on the M42 ones and they're bloody dangerous IME

My mate has just started working for the highways agency.....
I always keep to the limit showing just incase, even if its otherwise safe to make progress.
