That little girl lived just round the corner from me, it was horrible what happened to her.

According to the local paper yesterday, the driver was still on a provisional license, travelling at between 39 and 48 on a 30 road. It also said that he felt he would have stopped at the time had it been an adult that he hit!

What made it worse is that Levi's grandad died suddenly in hopsital the day the driver was sentanced.

The family apparently are going to appeal against the sentance....and so they should, 12 weeks is no where near enough.

Stolen and no insurance. Lock him up for that.

But don't lock him up for the child until a few facts have been established. Sometimes tragedies happen.

What kind of road is this? Narrow street with parked cars on both sides or a wide four lane bypass? 40 in a 30 is only part of the big picture, it might have been a reasonable speed especially if it was only feet away from a NSL sign. What the hell was a 3 year old doing playing in the road?

Some children are frightenly suicidal. Not so long ago a kid ran out into the road and hit the side of my car. This was deliberate. Fortunately I was going at a crawl as I had an suspicion that he might be about to run off the kerb and I'd only just pulled out into the road.

I got out and told him that his bit of fun had nearly ended up with him being under my rear wheel. At that moment his dad appeared and treated the whole issue as a big joke. I later heard from a friend that the kid has done this before and that they to were laughed at by the parents when they suggested it was going to kill him one day.

I know the road it happened on, it's a usual type of one lane each way main road, quite good visibility. It's a road that runs through to town centre and is no where near a NSL. Quite a built up area. College, schools, shops etc.

The child was with her mother and baby sister, the baby was in a pram/pushchair, and they were crossing the road when he appeared from nowhere, according to the reports at the time and reiterated in the papers, he was speeding and drving erratically, there was absoluty nothing the mother could do, and it was by sheer luck that he just missed the baby in the pram too, apparently he only just missed her.

Knowing the family, I cannot think for one moment that the mother was playing chicken on the road with two small children, and certainly the child was not playing on the road.

For God's sake, how much more dangerous than killing someone can it get?

cymtricks.

the "Man" had never taken a driving lesson in his life. he was driving a stolen car and speeding. a 3 year old girl died.

what more facts do you need?

I can see you point when a fully paid up and licenced guy hits a child but just the above facts should have been enough to lock this guy up and throw away the key.

Plus he has already served 5 years for vilont crime. what an asset to society he is. sentence him then deport him.

wonder if he was called fred not Mohammed what the sentence would be

Your heart weeps when you hear this sort of thing.

I know if that was my daughter being killed in this way, I would want to say hello to him when he does come out and introduce him to proper justice.

But a fully paid up and licenced driver would have got more of a punishment, even if he only got the same sentence (which I doubt?) because the jail followed by a lengthy ban would be a 'real' punishment to a law-abiding citizen, this scrote won't give a sh1t, the jail is doubtlessly viewed as an 'occupational hazard' by him and any driving ban will be utterly meaningless.

He should get life (or death) as he is not and never will be of any 'benefit' to society.

with any luck he'll have the sh1t kicked out of him in prison.

This is disgusting, if i was the father of this little girl i would most likely be talking the law into my own hands. Our legal system is a joke.

Not that it makes much difference, but I *think* the halving thing only occurs with sentences of 6mths+

Not sure what's going on with courts/CPS at the moment, but I noticed on our local (North West) teletext this morning that several people in separate courts for different serious offences (including a couple of murders) had *all* been found not guilty.

A total disgrace. Think what happens if an otherwise law-abiding person goes over a ton on an empty motorway (it happens here in the countryside occasionally): Heavy fine, lengthy ban, possible loss of job with associated consequences etc.
This total scum will come out and carry on with his life where he left off. I feel so sorry for the family and of course the little girl, the justice system in our country has become a total travesty. I agree with others, I sincerely hope the other inmates take exception to this b*****d and give him the punishment he deserves. If the childs family were to, justifiably, serve him up some proper justice, you can be sure they would be punished heavily for it !
I wonder how things would have gone if it were the Judge/Magistrates child he'd hit ?

150MPH on a deserted motorway in a legal car in full control should just about do it.

Didn't a pensioner get the same amount of time in prison for non payment of a very small proportion of their poll tax?
Fairness and justice are pure fantasy, only to be seen in Hollywood movies, we live in a VERY nasty world, in which the law abiding are consistantly shat upon and victimised by the very people who used to be there to protect us.

Unbelievably, he was given the 12 weeks for failing to stop and a 5 year driving ban........like the fact he wasn’t entitled to drive anyway meant anything? He was given no separate penalty for the other charges of having no insurance and driving a stolen car (did he steal it?)

He was also given 4 weeks for handling stolen goods for a separate offence. Nice to see things put into perspective!

In his police interview, Hussain said he had not stopped because he panicked. He added that he would have stopped if it had been an adult rather than a child involved.
