interesting site about accident/deaths statistics
Discussion
Very interesting.
I've just copied some of the statistics below. I know similar has been shown before, but it's worth considering the obscene amount of money and jobs thrown at the revenue camera industry for what is a relatively minor death causation factor...
Of course, there is only one where money can be earned from pretending to tackle it...
The average number of fatalities annually in the UK (all ages) include:
* Heart attacks 130,000 (the UK’s number one killer) (Dept of Health)
All cancers: more than 120,000 (Dept of Health)
* Smoking related illnesses 110,000 (Home Office)
* Obesity and unfitness 30,000 (National Audit Office) Obesity in under 15’s has tripled in the last 10 years. One in two obese children will become obese adults and so this is set to become the biggest single cause of premature death for our current school-leaving generation.
* Alcohol-related deaths 25,000 (Home Office)
* Breast cancer 15,000 (Dept of Health)
* Total accidental deaths 10,000 (HSE)
* Suicides 6,000, spread fairly evenly across the age groups from 15 years upwards.
