Thing is, with so many people being caught these days, I wonder if the system will crack under the pressure?

My licence was with Northants for 7 weeks being endorsed. I've only got it back because I telephoned and said I needed it this weekend (test drive).

The lady I spoke to said they currently have several months worth of backlog, and its not getting any better.

Disgraceful.

You had probably be better off sending the email to Directlines motor spokesperson who gave the quote. Channel 4 only reported the quote, which seems correct reporting even though they may not believe it personally.

You ARE kidding I hope - it was suggested on here that DL's MD is rather anti-car - a quote being 'he believes that people guilty of speeding are guilty of other crimes'.

So I can't see DL giving two hoots, frankly.

I sent an email to CH4 outlining my disappointment that they allowed such a statement to be put into the public domain by their article without any investigation of its accuracy.

I am also aware that the story appears on Yahoo news word for word and a similar story appears on MSN, don't think an email to them criticising editorial integrity would be of any use, CH 4 news however are usually pretty solid and balanced.

They might not, but I think it would have more impact than informing channel 4 that someone that they have interviewed has the wrong idea... All c4 has done is reported what they said - even emailing C4 to inform them that the Directline spokesperson is just peddling the same 1/3 of accidents and speeding piffle wont allow them to censor other people who say it or censor anything else for that matter.

The Directline spokeswoman may be genuinely unaware when she passed on the same offhand 'third of accidents' statement that it wasnt actually true!

Possibly, but are they going to believe the government, or an individual MoP? And who has the more stats behind them? The insurance industry work on statistics!

Quite right too !

Nice to know that speeding is so safe that the insurance
companies don't normally bother loading a premium with extra
charges for the first three points.

It's that safe.

Perhaps a link to SafeSpeed may give some more comprehesive evidence rather than an individuals opinion? Just an idea.
