Any of you know what the speed limit for the Truvelo Camera that is on the north bound dual carriageway on the A45 is? It's the one under the bridge where the A45 London Road joins with the A423 Oxford Road near Coventry Airport?

I may have a nice picture of my mug on the way

To take the complete piss I was sticking to the limit (I thought anyway) and it was empty road, dry @ 6.30am!!! I think it went off by mistake...he hopes...

Jaako I've just started another thread on this exact same camera, it flashed me today as well, and I was going the limit as well. I suspect the camera was adjusted for the 40mph roadwork limit and then not reverted back when the roadworks were removed this morning. I'm waiting for the PH massive to advise if this may be case.

Excellent news...can you post a link to that thread? How do we argue this one? I'm not one for driving with my eyes closed and was sure that it was 50. Saying that there were cones on the central reservation by the camera and funnily enough another car had stopped and was taking a picture of the camera....compensation for undue stress?

Where do we find this information out?

The most stupid thing about that road (apart from the stupidly low limit) is that going northbound it goes from a 50 to a 60 limit just on the approach to a large roundabout with traffic lights. Surely people should be encouraged to slow down into roundabouts not speed up

Jakko, they did have some boards up with a telehone number to the highways agency as well, perhaps they can confirm when the roadworks were finished. Agreed the conces are still around but as you say they're all sat in the central reservation, I'm worried they might reinstate the roadworks and this "window of opportunity" may dissapear.

I will not be coming through there again till tomorrow morning so cannot take a picture till then. I'm abroad at the moment...

It would make sense that they could be adjusted.

Dear Jaakko

The fixed speed camera on the Eastbound A45 approach to Tollbar roundabout

near Ryton-on-Dunsmore was set to enforce the temporary 40mph speed limit

through the recent roadworks on this stretch of road. The roadworks were

removed on the evening of Wednesday 8th March at which point the speed

limit returned to the normal 50mph. Unfortunately there was a breakdown in

communications and Warwickshire Casualty Reduction Partnership were not

informed that the roadworks were being removed. Consequently the camera

remained set to enforce the temporary 40mph speed limit.

The problem was rectified at the earliest opportunity on Thursday morning.

Motorists who were flashed, but were not exceeding the 50mph limit during

Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, will not receive prosecution

notices and have nothing to worry about.

Kind regards

You may remember that the FIVE cameras (including the one half a mile away) were installed a couple of years ago because of the reduced speed limit around dangerous cross-roads on the A45 at Ryton. This was temporary of course, because of plans to build a roundabout to remove the danger of this junction. Well now the roundabout is there so the speed limit will be raised again and the cameras will be removed of course...

Well, no. As far as I can see, they're there for good. The speed limit and camera signs are being upgraded with the new collapsible posts -- clearly there for the long term. So much for the statements of our beloved safety camera people.

Of course, if they got rid of the 50 limit along that stretch of road, they wouldn't have such a lucrative place to park their clearly marked camera van outside the PSA factory, where they can snap people just as they come round the corner. And that camera under the bridge, installed purely as part of policing the reduced limit for the roundabout half a mile gone, is so good because it's at the bottom of the hill, in the shade, and partially hidden by signs.

And the limit goes from 50 to 60 at the A45/A46 roundabout because that's where the Coventry council takes over. Nothing to do with roade safety, just jurisdictions.

Stopped using the A45 as a major artery soon after those cameras went up...realised that M1/M6 is a quicker route (even allowing for the M45 ). But mainly because I prefer driving on roads w/out speed cameras, makes for much less stressful journeys.

I DO recall when I first saw the first truvelo there though (the westbound one before the new r-bout) - was about 5 years ago, Sunday night heading home...I woke Becky up by nailing the brakes as I suddenly saw it peeking out behind the road sign. Not something I'll forget in a hurry.
