BiB - praise where due
Discussion
I had been called to an emergency meeting the other day - 2 hour drive up Northampton way. On way back - 8ish and wanting to be home earlier than had choice - pressed on down A45 dual carrieageway.
Well - hands up, got pulled by BiB (I had just passed a TT who then accelerated to play stupid games, and I thought this was another until he lit up his christmas tree!) Luckily I didn't bite otherwise I would have been buggered.
"Do you know why I've stopped you?" Well I might have been going a smidge too fast.
"If you had kept it to 80, I'd have let it go, but you were 80, 90 at times?" Well I know it was under 90 as my RoadAngel overspeed alarm is set at 90 and hadn't gone off - but I'm not going to mention that - legal it may be, but antagonism doesn't help!
Yeah, maybe a bit over 80 back there.
"Road surface isn't great (wet) so not sensible etc... keep it down eh, off you go"
What a result, but humbled at the same time. I figurejust as good a lesson learnt as a government partnership photo without wallet hit. I did indeed drive within the limit all the way home, and the discretion served made me think more than any Scamera photo.
Just felt the need to share - felt very let down by police in past, but praise where it's due and I think a little more of this would improve general attitudes to BiB all over.

You should have got his name and number and sent him a prezzy and a box of chocs for his missus.
That's a 'gratuity' delta, we're stricty forbidden from accepting them, a sackable offence!!! We're not even allowed to accept a cup of tea in a local cafe.... By the way, that single malt was lovely, thanks!

Out of my six or seven encounters with UK Police Officers for exceeding the speed limit only one, my first, on an L plated RG125 motorbike resulted in a fine and points.
I've generally found TrafPol to be exceptionally reasonable, a few of the stops have bee nfor what I guess in hind sight could only be referred to as stupid behaviour.
Maybe I'm just good at passing the attitude test?

As I was part of the cause of the emergency meeting, glad you didn't get into any bother with the bib. I had a similar tale a couple of weeks ago on the A14 on the way to Northampton, was doing 80-90 and got pulled by plain clothes car. Thoroughly decent bloke, gave me a bit of a telling off and sent me on my way. To be honest tt had a much better effect than the usual 3 points and fine, my speed has been moderated of late and I've been telling anyone daft enough to listen what a decent lot the bib are!
