Can anyone tell me how quickly it should take for a court summons to be sent. At the begining of March I was advised by the police that I would receive a summons for being in breech of section 172.
I was quite surprised that the summons still hasn't been received. Is there the possibility that it has got lost in the post and I don't know about it (I was told by one individual that as it was a court document it would be sent recorded).

Hi Catherine,
The police have up to six months to lay the information before the magistrate to obtain the summons. After that the summons will be issued and can be served at anytime following issue. This may be even years after the event if you are difficult to locate. Saying that, it would be usual to receive a summons within a couple of months or so of the event.
Hope this helps

surely that depends on whether you are guilty or not ?
