What's this new type of speed camera?
Discussion
I've noticed a new camera around London which i've never seen before. Does anyone know what it is? It's like a small Gatso but on a higher stand. It's yellow and has a slit in it which i guess contains a camera. However there are no road markings. What new device is this for spying on us????
That'd be a DIGITAL Gatso, I've seen 2 so far, one on the A12 about 2 miles out of the Blackwall Tunnel, and one on the way to Ikea at edmonton
They're up much higher as this will prevent the 'tyre filled with petrol' gag that people seem to use to destroy the older type
SO I suppose we'll have to hope that whatever tepehone line it uses to transmit it photos becomes disconnected real soon and has persistent outages!!!!!!!!!

Looks like an access panel at about ground level...
Crowbar, petrol/thermite (optional, either or) fill, light, run!
Sorted.

You can offen buy old cars with short MOT's at auctions like ADT for under £20. Get one of these, drive towards one of the camers quickly, and at the last second shout 'RAMMING SPEED!'
Third time’s a charm:
These sound like the new digital point cameras which use visible flash (not infra-red). They have been given approval without the need for the Gatso style photographic based corroborative measurement.
