I asked a few questions about signage a while back because of this. DVD as ever was very knowledgable. This is less than 2 miles from my home and it has affected several of my friends, who now have their convictions overturned. A lot haven't had their money refunded yet. All in all a big cock up by Devon county council highways department, enforced blindly by D&C police.
They have now gone through the area like a dose of salts and it would appear they are gearing up to try and recover the money they have had to cough up.

My suggestion? holiday somewhere less Draconian. They might start to notice when people avoid the area.

Phil

Ps, They lowered the speed limit, and then have had "several serious accidents". I should point out these accidents were all elderly drivers driving into one another at low speed. They probably fell asleep.

Even better than that send them a letter stating that if they dont have their money back within 14 days, then they will take immediate legal action. Send it by recorded delivery to the head of the camera partnership.

If that is ignored you can file a claim with Money Claim Online, which is a small claims procedure which will mean that the guy will get a court summons and will have to respond within a number of days to reject or admit or partially admit the claim.

I have used this on two occasions to fight the 'call centre' run companies who just pass you from pillar to post. I spent a year trying to get £100 back from a communications company who just fobbed me off by saying 'the money will be there in 6 weeks/28 days' etc. To the £100 claim way added the filing fee which was £35 (I think) the cost of my telephone calls to them, and the cost of my time taken on the numerous times taken to chase them and investigate legal proceedings. In total I got the claim to £400.

I got a telephone call from their legal department ready to do a deal within a couple of days. The offered me £150, then £200 and when I held firm and told them to see me in court, I let them know that I knew full well that we both knew I would win the case as is wont be contested, and just to send a solicitor across the country to my local court will cost £400 anyway.

The £400 cheque arrived in the post 48 hours later.

Dont let these type of corporate or government bodies get away with it. The tools to get what is fair is there to pull them up on if you know how to use them!
