Today I was stopped by an officer of the law.

Not only did he rant at me, but he suggested that "If I didn't drive more slowly in future, they'd just have to put up speed cameras."

I was not only left wondering what that had to do with me, but further, how the hell my little 950cc Fiesta was going to get back into traffic travelling in excess of 60mph, with a naffing great police MPV in my wing and rear view mirrors.

It seems to me that the situation created was a whole lot more dangerous than that which I had been stopped for.

You see, the thing is that I had ventured into a temporary 40mph zone on a dual carriageway at more than that speed. Not least of which is that the actual roadworks are simply cones that have been placed behind the armco, presumably because the workmen didn't wish to collect them up when they left last time.

I guess the police officer got the opportunity to vent his spleen at me. Indeed he seemed pretty frustrated with the world. In some ways, his booking me would, at least, have justified the whole situation. Perhaps he didn't have any witnesses.

If he's listening, I'd recommend a good holiday!

Not there so can't comment on the details, but a bollocking seems better than a booking to me dilbert.
Cheers

Mmmm, I think you're right. On reflection I think I actually feel a bit sorry for the guy. I hate to say it, but not as sorry as I feel for the poor guy who dies when he drives into the back of him, whilst he's stationary half in, and half on the mud of a, live fast dual carriageway.

Hope you're good Mr Turbobloke. How's the geen hype going these days?
