How to send licence securely

Long long story but in order to get insured on a mates van to be driven down to Le Mans I may need to send my licence to the offices of the insurers in Ireland. Before I do this I'm going to check with the DVLA how they recommend this should be done. My first idea is to find a local agent who can validate my licence and get them to contact the Irish insurers. Any better ideas?

Try walking into a Solicitors Office and ask them for a Certified Copy of both sides of your DL. Cost is fixed by the Law Society and just £5 IIRC. Simply send the CC not the original.
