Lambocop,
Just wanted to say congrats on the Gumball display.
I chatted a while with one of the officers there (not sure if it was you as I am unaware what you look like!!)
He gave us a thorough description of how the laser gun you use operates, and a synopsis of the force's policy on speed.
If we could clone officers like that, the BiB would have no PR problem at all, he was keen to talk, not at all condescending and struck me as being a good bloke.
Again.. top job and I look forward to meeting you personally soon.

It's a great shame that you seem to be the exception rather than the rule, public perception of the BiB would be improved hugely if all BiB were like those on PH
I suspect most of them *are*, (or would be if they were allowed to be).
What you see on the media is
(i) specific stupidities, usually from people with special jobs that need protecting (if the gay-bashing unit can't find gay bashing crimes it might get closed)), e.g. contacting people who've said on the radio they don't like gay people.
(ii) the actions of individual dim coppers (highlighted because of the loathing of Scameras IMO) e.g. the "gay horse".
(iii) politically motivated actions ; e.g. the muslim march vs countryside march, arresting people for "bollox to Blair" clothing. I wonder if a "bollox to Cameron" shirt wearer would be arrested ; I suspect not.
(iv) cretinous PR "there is no crime anywhere, we're so brilliant, can you double our funding please" (see every newspaper).
None of which is what coppers actually *do*.
Like any other job, there are very good and very bad people in it, and most are okay people, it's probably a bell curve.
The problem with *every* public entity is not the people who do the work at the coalface ; it's the unbelievably bad systems and management under which they are required to work, most of which is directly or indirectly imposed or caused by the government.
