Does anyone have an idea of the guidelines regarding caliberation of the mobile speed cameras. I was zapped a few weeks ago in the TVR, (have a good picture to prove it).
I've got the competancy certificate and picture but no calibertaion certificate.
West Yorkshire state they only provide them at court, but have added the equipment was last caliberated in April 2005, over 12 months ago.
I didn't think I was going too fast when I saw the scamera van, and now I'm having real doubts. If I was speeding then fine I'll cough up, but if there's doubt about the equipment they used !!
Surely it must be done more frequently than this, anyone help??

I believe that it has to be calibrated more often than this. I also believe that if they take you to court then they must provide you with all evidence at least 7 days before the trial.

What a joke. Imagine it they took this approach towards, say, a rape charge:

"You are guilty of rape. We've given you 10 years in jail, please make your way to the clink within 28 days. If you want to contest this charge, we don't give out the evidence but we'll show it in court".

Caliberation?

Is that the measuring of low-alcohol lagers?

If you consider you were within or a little over the limit, surely it's a bit harsh. If memory serves, back in the day the car cams had to be calibrated every day.. or was it week? Pretty sure every day, but they are not Talivans. No one in my part of the land worries too much about breaking down to 70 when doing 80 as it's the big fish tonners+ the plod are interested in. Easy catch, little legal wrangling.

They have speed to penalty charges, which may also help.

I have defended an LTI2020 case, and i believe that all of the mobile devices need to be calibrated annually. They also need to be checked for alighnment before and after the tour of duty and these tests need to be recorded.

It depends when your offence was, if it was in May then you may have a case on the basis that ot was more than a year since the device was tested. I would not put it past the CPS to tell you this then appear in court with all the relevant paperwork as what happened to me.

I had a long list of information such as the training certificate and officers notes, the calibration certificate and the manual for the device, all of which I was refused or ignored before court. I pressed the issue on the morning of the trial and was told that they local nick didnt have a copy of the manual, the officers statement for his competancy was good enough, and was shown a certificate to a different device.
