I apologise, my image hosting is down.
Let me please reassure you that this post was not devised as some sort of deliberate irritant,
I have an image of a police car in a particular location/setting that I wanted to post here as it annoyed me so much....
I will be back to sort this out as soon as my image hosting gremlins sod off!
Thanks,
Jay

I saw this on my lunch break.
Double yellows.
Facing the wrong way.
In a bus stop (the black post is a bus stop sign).
Suspiciously next to a pub (out of shot) at lunch time.
And what makes things worse, there's another 30 or so spare feet of free, empty, not at all busy pavement extending further than the brick paving you can see; BiB clearly not attending anything partiularly urgent (and there was no sign of any emergency at all), otherwise they'd have been parked off the road in that space for sure.
Apologies for being presumptious, but...
for 'totting up' to the most annoying piece of police parking I've yet seen. I'm in a bad mood, so this annoyed me a lot at lunch and I decided to vent here...
Thanks for understanding.
And sorry about the earlier foul-up. Quite funny in hindsight!
**edited to add that I was walking up the street having just spent 15 minutes trying to find a space in a crowded NCP.

I know what you mean, some of them really take the piss.
Our local Whetherspoons has a huge car park but it's across the other side of the road, so on most Saturday nights plod come in for a cuppa which is fair enough, but why do they always park right outside the door on the double yellows, obscuring a bus stop and usually facing the wrong way. It's a WPC usually, too lazy to walk across the road like the rest of us have to.

Sounds like thery're properly taking ther pi$$ there, on a regular basis!
Can anyone clarify - I thought emergency services could only park so when on pressing business!
Ahem.... another bad day I'm afraid.
Especially bad due to the roofless elise in the car park / stuffy office situation.

Couldn't agree more. Some people have too much time on their hands. Writing to a Chief Constable with a copy of a picture?! Get a life!!!
Fear not Hollywood, I'm not such a loser as to waste my time complaining and whinging (my girlfriend does enough of that). It just narked me at the time as I'd literally just spent forever (a quarter of my precious lunch hour) trying to find a parking space in the NCP 30 paces back down the road.
And may I also point out that that photo was taken on my phone - I didn't go home and dig out the Canon!

Who is supposed to police the police for doing stupid things if Joe public doesn't. You can bet all your money that if it was a 'normall' car parked there the BiB wouln't just leave it and say, Oh I will leave it alone and get a life.
Just about every day I hear people saying, How come the police can do that and get away with it.
The BiB are supposed to set an example not do as they like besause no one will say anything.
I freely admit that I'm no fan of the BiB on a general basis (the guys posting on here seem like proper, decent folk - so consider yourselves excepted from this
) - but if I had seen this I would probably have thought they were on a call - maybe to the pub opposite that you mentioned. In which case I think they should park wherever they can. They take long enough to respond to calls as it is, without then having to drive around looking for a parking space.
On the other hand, if they were just parking for a doughnut or something - report 'em. Sorry, but it's a bit "them and us" nowadays as far as I'm concerned. Many of them are anal about the law, so getting one back (legally of course) is always nice
As an aside, anyone seen "Bike Cops" on Men & Motors ? They are the local force to me and it shows what we're up against - they didn't even know of the existence of a daytime MoT. Stopped some guy on his bike with no lights, all legal, took so long for them to confirm there is a daytime MoT that it was dark when they let him go. Then of course he had to get his mate in a van to come and pick him up
- sorry for the hijack.

You see this is the problem. None of us know why they were parked there, i won't even make any suggestions because the list will be too long. Personally i should imagine there was in fact a very good reason for them being parked there, but then again it's an easy thing to moan about.
"How can the Police get away with that" is one of my personal favourites. It's a whinge basically. So many people think they have a clue about Police work and could do it soooooo much better than those who actually do it....

Forgive me and my dicean views. Quite frankly, why the f**k should plod do what they like? As was said, Let he who is without sin... Sooo, if I got nicked for parking like that by this officer?!?!?!?
Believe me, I don't have too much time on my hands. But I have principals.
Maybe that car had a good reason for being there, but there is just as much chance that they didn't.
My point was made on what I have seen and been told about. No emergency, no job call, just pure 'I can do this, who is gonna stop me'
I was overtaken yesterday in a village, we were doing 30 and BiB shot past at about 45-50. I told the learner he must be on a call. No lights/siren or even indicators. 2-3 minutes later, same BiB coming out of a pie shop, pies in hand, parked on double yellows.
This is not a one off situation, it happens a lot, including stupid parking.
The trouble being is, if Joe public was to report them, leaving name and number, then who do you think gets pulled for no reason next time they are out? The BiB on here says that doesn't happen, well probably PH BiB are better than any others I have met or dealt with.

Maybe he was on his way yto an urgent call, got cancelled on the way, so popped in for some food whilst he had the chance? He was parked on double yellows so that he could be close to his vehicle and it's 'main set' which is used for dispatching of calls. You may say 'oh pull the other one', but I'm telling you that i regularly get cancelled from calls whilst on route, then take the opportunity to get some food down my neck whilst i have the time....
See, there is always another side to any argument. People love jumping up and down about plod being above the law, they are very much anything but! Would you like to know how many parking tickets I've given to the poor old set-upon British motorist in 9 years of Policing? None. Zilch. Zero. That's how many.
