What a huge waste of time and money
Discussion
I bet there arer a lot of people, invcluding Muslims, who wish the homes of the July bombers had been raided before they had a chance to set of their bombs.
Why do the Muslim Council see this as an afront to Islam. There were many Muslims injured and killed in the Madrid and London bombs and after all the bombs were planted by Muslims. Muslims have always killed Muslims, they don't appear to mind that.

Withiout being privvy to all the information that is not an accurate judgement that can be made.
The whole thing just as equally could have been cheap as chips for what may have been averted.
I don't understand what it has to do with any religious leader/organisation whatsoever.
People were suspected, the intelligence was acted upon.
Being released without charge isn't necessarily "proving innocence" but sometimes that the police will not have enough evidence to convict in court so the CPS drop it.

I am amazed at the racism in this thread, imagine if this had happened to your family
I havn't seen any racism in this thread. Nobody has said anything about black people, white people, Arabs, asians or any particular race or nationality.
Muslims must beware of their religion being hijacked by extremists. Let's not pusseyfoot around, the main threat to our safety is from extremists who have declared war on the west in the name of Islam. The raid was against suspected terrorists who happened to be Muslims. The main casualties of Islamic extremists is always other Muslims. Bin Laden has declared his war in the name of Islam and beware of anybody fighting a war in the name of God.
As regards anything happening to my family I will back the authorities in trying to prevent another July bombing and if that hurts a few sensitivities then so be it.

Seemed pretty accurate to me
This really annoys me, what the hell as this got to do with other Muslims who may live near these people? If the police raided the house of a white family in our town, do you think the white community would be up in arms? If they have that much of a hang up over their religion, perhaps they need to change it.

Tell you what, let's go round saying that the guys ran away from the Police, they had wires attached to their jackets, they vaulted over the gates (etc.)
Can't have it all ways.

What's comical is the Police are now saying "Oh, let's not have any media comment until we have the full picture". Hasn't bothered them in the past, has it - if you live by the sword you die by the sword.
Well we'll see from the outcome of the enquiry exactly who said what, i.e. did the Police say something or was it something the media introduced ?
Just as the News of the World printed another expose on the IPCC report last week, only for the IPCC to respond telling them that their report on the IPCCs findings was inaccurate & misleading.
Newspapers are best for wrapping fish in, not going on fishing expeditions.

Yes, but in this case the fish is jumping out of the river in a desperate attempt to get wrapped ....

And that is precisely what they want. They want us paranoid and they want "their" community to be the focus of that paranoia. I imagine whoever fed the BiB the info for this raid chose their victims carefully to fulfil all known stereotypes.
I suspect this intel was not exactly given by "my mate Dave" down the pub, but was likely to have resulted from an undercover agent (police, or MI5esque) risking their lives to attempt to prevent terrorist attacks in the UK mainland.
It won't have been acted upon without a serious stop and think about it either......

Seemed pretty accurate to me
what is your angle here? i dont understand.
its not exactly beyond the realms of fantasy that a few nutters would build a bomb and rip a load of innocent people limb from limb. 7th july, the attempted copycat 2 weeks later, the foiled fertiliser bomb in the courts at the moment, the sarin lab, the spanish train bombs etc... i for one want the police acting on information they get. who knows whether they got this one right or not? perhaps he shouldnt have been shot i dont know and neither do you. personally after the spanish terror raids where the suspects blew up the whole building after they were raided, i'd shoot first and ask questions later too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/euro
a waste of time and money? WTF? how much do you think terror attacks cost the economy.
it was a waste WITH HINDSIGHT but to be honest i'd rather 1 bloke had a sore shoulder and £500,000 compensation (not too ill to get a lawyer i see) than 70 people murdered on the tube.

Not necessarily Dave down the pub, but I'm sure the muslim extremists (like the IRA before them) run counter-intelligence ops as I'm sure they are trying to make the BiB's job as tricky as possible. The BiB etc are following all sorts of leads and while I'm sure they manage to filter out much of the dross they clearly failed this time.
So the extremists score a point, and unfortunately it was a very public point.

My angle is: Iraq war, (no WMD) - inspires terrorism. Police go round shooting (killing) innocents on flawed intelligence - I just think it's very sad and a backwards step for GB Ltd

So that's like the intelligence that led to war in Iraq is it - copying it from websites, for example. I suspect it's "my mate Mohammed" down the pub.
