Looks like the CPS has had to drop a case againest a driver who was caught speeding 4 times on the Stocksbridge Bypass. Why???? The Speed limit Signs are incorrect! It's making BBC Look North in the Yorkshire area. They only found two people who said it doesn't matter and he should have been prosecuted. Perhaps if the so-called "road engineers" and the short sighted politicians who designed this death-trap they would not have been thought to be nescessary.

Richard Bentley is the sign expert who found that the signs were in the wrong location and were incorrect signs. The South Yorkshire CPS is advising motorists who felt they had being incorrectly prosecuted to take further legal advice.

I have often wondered why - since this bye-pass ist so dangerous - it has the near invisible SPECS und not one "! " blackspot triangle.....

Und in any case - signs should be legal ..

But then when they use vans - these are not always legally parked either....

Exactly!

Just what sort of vile tricks are being perpetrated against drivers by this inanimate entity known as a road? It doesn't seem to have been particularly bloodyminded when I've used it.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Of course this is section of road that streetcop used to trumpet about the benefits of cameras.

Phrases involving arse and elbow come to mind.

Not convinced the SPECS are on - only one has infra red visible and you can bet if they were nicking people it would be a case of 'xxx speeders caught'. They haven't stopped any accidents either - plenty of new shrines sadly.

And these cameras were brought in after an horrific crash which killed two children. Speed of course was not the cause, it looked to be a case of cutting up a lorry and paying the price. Terrible tragedy but cameras will never stop anything like that.

The real danger on the bypass now is silly overtakes past 4omph lorries - numpties won't put their foot down to do a safe overtake and end up nearly in a head-on just to avoid exceeding 60! A real nasty will happen at this rate.

Streetcop was bought to heel By Wildcat and myself amongest others on this. The Rub is that in the accident refered to speed was not in any way a factor. The car involved appears to have fishtailed out of control. Reading the Reports of the Inquest and the effect it had on the family the Road planners should be prosecuted themselves.

I’ve done this on a road near me, late at night, driving at 40+ in a 30 limit, passed one camera then launched into the brakes and “parked” in the middle of the road for 20 secs, then carried on. Now the speeding wasn’t dangerous, but the stopping…
