Hiya,

I'm running a poll asking folk where they were caught by speed camera. If you have been caught speeding on camera within the last threee years, please answer the poll at: www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7954

(Answering the poll requires simple free forum registration.)

Pass the message on too please. I need as many answers as I can get in the next 48 hours.

You haven't got a "not been caught yet" section? "Been blooming lucky so far" etc...

Deliberately I assume...

Yeah. I need a quick crude set of comparative data from folk who have been caught.

Bump.

The Poll has been viewed 310 times as I write, but only 37 folk have answered so far. I expect many of you have not been caught on camera in the last three years. Fair enough - well done even!

But I do need more answers for publicity on Wednesday.

If you have been caught on camera in the last three years, PLEASE answer the poll.

If you have answered already, many thanks.

If you're active in any other driving / car related groups, mailing lists or boards, please pass the request on.

Paul - my ticket was 54 in a 40 on the way to my wedding! In fact, the only 1/2 mile of 40 limit in about 120 miles of driving damn it! Let me know if that quote is of any use to you :-)

Yeah, that could be a good one! Can you send me an email with about 50 words on what happened and about 50 words on how you felt about it? I may be able to include that in the forthcoming PR.

Mine was similar, A1 southbound through Sandy. Just passed the fixed camera in the 50 zone and was 200 yds away from the 60 zone so started to spped up only to find a mobile unit 100 yds away from the 60 start and got done for 61mph in a 50. The road is dual carriageway and at that point has no houses or anything alongside.
It's a common place for it to sit as many people start to speed up there ready for the 60 zone 1-200 yds further along.

Does it have to be 'caught by camera'? I was fined for speeding but it was by trafpol hidden in a layby with a timing device.

Yeah, it's cameras only for this particular purpose, thanks.

Note to all: follow the link, register and then come back here and click the link again.

I've just spent 10 minutes working out how to vote on the poll instead of just looking at the results

Not able to answer the poll personally as scam free (touch wood) but last year our fleet (>300 vehicles) had an averagr of slightly over 2 NoIPs for speeding per month.

By end of June 06 we had passed that mark and currently almost 6/month. Mostly for 35/36 in 30 type of offences, very few doing silly speeds in a normal limit. The ones where biggest margin over appear to be temporary limits in road works.

Fyi.

WOW! Do you think that the rate of prosecution has nearly trebled? I can hardly believe what I'm reading! Tell me *everything*.

Well not actually trebled but certainly gone up x2.44 , YHM

edited to add, these are all, well mostly, drivers who have had a minimum of one short advanced / defensive driving course. Not that one day, or a couple of half days, is enough to do much but better than nowt.

Not been copped yet, Paul - She Who Is To Be Feared And Obeyed was nobbled about six years ago by a mobile, but that's out of your parameters.

Try contacting Sainsbury's, Tesco and Iceland Home delivery departments. I worked for Tesco Internet delivery for a while and we were always getting NIPs, but Tesco used to send them back as 'unable to ascertain driver' as there were several drivers and vans and we were not 'assigned' to any particular vehicle on a shift.
