Not good PR for safety partnerships

Effectively, people have been made to worry about possibly being prosecuted, because Cumbria's partnership has allowed Redspeed to test it's equipment on the public highway.
I would have thought that was morally wrong at the very least.

Surely if equipment is being tested means that it's not complete and therefore not yet approved for use?
I'll confirm that Monitron also did this, ie deploy untested equipment which was active and not actually used for enforcement. This was speeding and red light camera.
Nobody knew it was not actually being used for enforcement.
It was removed after complaints, but still some people appeared to suffer from being rear ended because they thought the camera was live and stopped vv quickly. Add this in combintion with the amber timing insufficient for the class of road and limit prevailing, and the camera on a hair trigger thankfully nobody was hurt.
Utterly disgraceful, experimenting with peoples' property and lives on the public highway.

When I get a calibration certificate for an industrial pressure gauge, flow meter, etc there is all kinds of information on it: name of the tester, test method used (usually this is an internationally recognised standard method), the standard device it was tested against, measured value vs the standard device etc etc. All quality assured and traceable.
That "certificate" from redspeed has no such traceability and is utterly meaningless.

Seconded.
Now interestingly I note that Redspeed are in Kidderminster. This was the location of the utter warts who tested their cameras on Public Highway as mentioned above. They went bust, Monitron as I recall.
