...that it's illegal for a limit change to be greater than 30mph? I'm 99% certain that the A road into Sheffield from the M1 goes from national to 30 (roadworks) at the moment. Also - whats the minimum distance between limit changes. Lastly - who do I contact to sort it out (It's a bit dangerous).

This is all assuming I've read it correctly - I'm fairly sure I have.

I'm not sure it is prohibited (illegal isn't the correct term), Stargate roundabout in Bradford is 30mph, and has on- and off- slips to the M606 which is 70mph.

That said, I can think of a LOT of places where it used to be 30mph to 70mph (or vice versa) that have recently been changed, so perhaps the guidelines have been altered.

On a related note [hijack]...

There's work on the Ring Road in nottingham to lower the speed limit to 40/50 from NSL (the bar-stewards). On the on ramp at Silverdale roundabout (northbound) the speed limit is posted as NSL. On joining, sharp left bend is signed as "max speed 40mph" - no roundel.
This road itself is signed further back (if you don't join from the roundabout) as 50mph I believe.

What is going on there?!?

Does bring into question whether any of it is enforcable.

Its not a regulatory sign and as such no different to an advisory sign for the bend itself. Appears an attempt by the LA to get the spedd down for that particular corner without resorting to a TO for speed reduction, which it is doubful it could obtain for a single bend.

IMHO does'nt make the previous limit unenforceable.
