Reg Plate Anti Flash Spray

Whilst wandering around FOS on Friday I came across a company selling a crystalline spray for reg plates that reflects Gatso flashes.
Does this work?

I've been left £20 million by a Nigerian Uncle. Unfortunately, I require the use of a foreign bank account to transfer the money out of Nigeria. I would be most thankful if you could provide me the details of your account so that I can make the transfer. For this service you will recieve 20% of the total - after any any expenses.

I'll do it

I believe nothing the lying deceitful shower say, but I've seen the way they develop the films. It doesn't come out properly at first but then they develop the film a different way and it does. Don't ask me - I know nowt about photography. That said, maybe with the new digital cameras they won't have the ability? I'll find out.
Its quite simple. If you want to know if it works, buy some, spray your plate, stand at a similar angle to a GATSO and take a picture of your plate with a digital camera.
Even if it did work, I imagine plod would be most displeased when they pulled you over for having a funny shiny looking number plate, and I imagine the magistrate would be even less pleased.

I did produce my camera to the sales guy and said I'd test it!
He explained that it would be too weak and gatso had a 500 wotsit rated bulb, but hey it's 30 foot behind me!
Did think the same as you guys, that why the can stayed on his stand for the bargin price of £20! A £5 saving on the normal price and it can treat 6 plates! bargin!

Utter rubbish hes talking there. The GATSO is designed to expose correctly for a standard plate. Set the exposure on your digital camera from the plate (with flash) and the results should be exactly the same.

Yep, if it works it's illegal, and if it doesn't work, er, well, it doesn't work.
Not sure if it's one of these things that's illegal if you think it's going to work even though it doesn't (like trying to poison someone when the guy who sold you the "poison" actually just ripped you off with some coloured water).
When I saw the guy at the NEC he had a plate half covered with *something* (he said the stuff in the tin) and the other half untreated. I couldn't photograph the treated half, it whited out the shot.
Can't comment beyond this though!
As far as illegal goes, is it actually a legal requirement that your numberplate has to be visible to flash photography or just visible to the human eye? The spray he had made it look just a little bit foggy but nothing particularly obvious.

I'd give it a whirl for what it costs, seems to be popular abroad.
