Am i likely to get done for it? I heard somewhere that they can't prosecute you unless you do more than 35mph. I didn't see it till last minute cos there was a bloody great Blue van parked right infront of it.

The can prosecute for less than 35mph, but they don't tend to.
If you were doing less than 35 according to your speedo, with speedo error you'll probably be OK.

I am fairly annoyed at it i use the road nearly every day, a bloody huge van obscured it, was at Sandbanks in Dorset, yesterday morning. Thing is i sped up just behind the blue van and so i was only going above 30 for maybe 5 or 10 seconds before the camera.

He has only been on a few months as well.... in a couple of years he will be running a 'Fight Club'esque organisation destroying Gatso's in the middle of the night.

Lets keep up the good work!

I'd have given a FPN, it's the cameras that are soft.

It's a two year probationary period & if you get 6 current valid points or more in those two years, your licence is revoked.

If it gets revoked it doesn't mean you are disqualified, it means you must apply for a new provisional driving licence if you want to drive & you will be subject to "learner" conditions until you pass both theory and practical driving tests again. The 6 points will be on your new provisional & still be valid towards counting for a future ban should you get more points for other offences. You can't however have a licence revoked under the New Drivers Act a second time.

Und I think any points accrued under a provisional licence also go on the full licence once obtained..

However, I think Col87 probably OK as speedo usually register 3 mph above... so when it say 30mph - you really travel at 27 mph..

On the other hand when my speedo shows 34 its a true 33 so don't rely on it being 10% fast folks!

Col87 probably OK as long as the 33/34 reading is not after the "oh bother; lift off and brake" moment.

The Dorset Camera Partnership are amongst the most zealous of the partnerships and not always as careful when checking the evidence as they should be before issuing a FPN.
They have signalled their intention to lower the prosecution threshold below the 10% + 2mph when hypothecation finishes next year. A recent survey printed in the local paper showed that your cahnces of being prosecuted as a percentage of the population are greatest in the South West.

That's interesting. I wonder if we will find this to be the case more generally. Now partnership funding isn't dependent on catching people, you'd think there was no need to up the body count. However, perhaps there's something else going on and Gordon is looking to turn this into even more of a stealth tax than before, using the partnerships as another tax-raising body. They may be given cash targets that require variable prosecution thresholds to bring in the amount Gordon requires each month. This fits with the move to lower the points for being "just over" -- it gives them more chances to catch you before you're banned, and less provocation to go to court to defend yourself.

Of course, if you're not speeding then you have nothing to fear. We can all distinguish between 30 and 32 can't we?

I'd recommend fitting a GPS warning kit as they give you a true GPS speed measurement. If these scumbags are going to up the ante then you have to protect yourself
