Brand new offroad bike. (ie no MOT needed)

Headlamp removed.

Daylight use only.

Does it need a new daylight only MOT? or is it legal as is?

Bib view appreciated.

Only needs an MOT on the road. As its not going on the road, you're ok.

If the question is: "Can I ride it on the road with some kind of lenient MOT?", I'd imagine the answer is "no - you need to make it fully road-legal"

What about if it rained? You can't guarantee sunlight, even during the day in teh middle of summer. What if you're riding and there's a fire nearby and the road is smokey? (Say this because that's exactly what happened near my house last night, couldn't se a thing on a busy crossroads at rush hour!)

There is (AFAIK) a daylight MOT. But (assuming your bike is registered for the road and has the other necessary bits to be legal) as your bike is less than 3 years old it doesn't need it. Again AFAIK

I do remember watching one of the fly on the wall "cop's" type programs recently and they had pulled over a biker who had no light. He insisted that he didn't need one during the day. It was about an hour and a half before they established that he didnt legally need one during the day. Of course, by this time it was dark and he had to trailer it home!

When I registered a crosser on the road you didn't need lights or indicators. I seem to recall the requirements were a reflector, brake light and horn.

AFAIK reflector, brake light and horn are the minimum requirement, unless anything extra was fitted by the manufacturer. As they fitted a light in the first place it must remain fitted and working.

I’m no expert but as I understand it, just because the original manufacturer fitted lights/indicators does not mean they still have to be there. If lights/indicators are currently fitted, then they must be working. I think horn, reflector and brake light are the minimum you need for day time use.

I registered a new enduro bike for road use, so that I could take it green laning.
Iirc, you might also need to fit a speedo to the bike to keep the Authorities happy.
As the bike is new, however, I wouldn't worry about the MOT anyway.

Oh yeah, a speedo, I forgot about that. Well it was only 1" across
