Plastic card copy of insurance certificate
Discussion
Just taken out insurance with a large company and was pleased to receive a duplicate copy of my insurance certificate in the form of a credit card style card.
Very convenient and, given the alleged state of the database at Swansea, could help me avoid having my car snatched if police tell me their ANPR system - linked to Swansea - says I am not insured.
That happened to a chap in N Wales but even though he produced his insurance cert at the police station, he was told they could not release his car as " the computer says you have no insurance"
Anyone know if several companies do this?

That sounds really useful, as you can always carry your certificate but not have to leave it in the car.
I'd be grateful if you could name the appropriate large insurance company as it would be worth seeing how their quote compares when renewal time comes up.

Zurich Insurance. Quote was £110 lower for wife's Mondeo than another "well advertised on TV" company. £160 versus £270 for what looks very like the same cover; courtesy car etc. And it includes free roadside assistance from Green Flag.
