Gloucestershire Goebbels - anywhere else?
Discussion
For the past few weeks, a local commercial radio station in this tractor toting territory has been relaying an "advert" over the airways, read by a slick sounding Mr VoiceOver, which goes along these lines:
The local free press have joined in, featuring a front page on a recent 'crackdown on crime' in one of the less salubrious districts of Cheltenhamshire. The results, they proudly proclaim, include someone breaching bail conditions (well OK), three 'suspected' stolen bicycles, and two vehicles without tax. Fairynuff if not insured etc but...this is declared to be a good use of the £15k cost claimed for the 'initiative'.
Coming after the advert, and after driving past too many Gatsos to count plus the inevitable speed trap in making a short journey along our hump-strewn tank tracks that pass as roads, it was just too much to take. Look outside and it's clear we're still living with too-high levels of robbery, theft, assaults, vandalism, muggery and doubtless b*ggery here in Bloody Hoodyland. The government, cautious not to incarcerate any more of their core voters, let 'em out early rather than build more jails for the remaining 50,000 regular customers who should be inside (according to Civitas) alongside the current 70,000 or so iirc.
So is the advert just for us yokels, or do other PHers in more civilised parts hear the local radio churning out propaganda at taxpayers' expense? There are obvius lines of response but it'd be very interesting to read suggestions as to what might be done about it. The Truth It Aint.

It's just the local 'rags', audio or paper, that are trying to compete with the national lying campaign.
As has been obvious in the local papers for a while (I don't do radio) the number one problem village by village is 'Anti-social behaviour by teenagers@ and the number 2 is 'Speeding'. I foget number 3 - something equally torpid - fly tipping I think, though it seems that such concerns are not enough to prevent people employing the tippers to tarmac their drives and cut their hedges or clear their garages for a few quid when they know that the cost of using an official tip will be more than they are paying.
The way to deliver messages for propaganda purposes is documented here (the example is or Global Warming ...) :

My BS meter was broken some time ago by overload.
Give it a couple of years and it won't matter. All parties want to drive people off the road as we can see now that the boy David's have shown their hand. Only the politicos in the black limos (and their 4x4 equipped bodyguards) will be allowed free passage.
A move to Moscow anyone?
