SPECS on the M1
Discussion
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but the search function didn't bring up an answer to this....
Does the SPECS system (as in the one used on the M1 Junctions 6-11)work at night? The limit on the M1 is 40 but I've never had a ticket despite going a bit faster than that. Many motorists seem to be doing quite a lot more, especially at night.
thanks

No Idea, sorry, but there is afaik no technical reason why it would not be operational.
Unless of course the whole thing is a gambit to bluff people into crawling along. There may be a higher threshold set I suppose or perhaps they shut it off to save electricity costs ... ;-)
Odd form of safety. Heading south a week last Sunday there was a shunt northbound and heading north later in the day the was a shunt southbound, both right in the middle of the SPECS section.
Daylight and solid traffic in both cases so probably little chance that speed over the set limit was causal.
