Points mean Policeman, what do points mean?

....and there is more.....
The latest report regarding our publicity seeking CC Brainstorm of Yakkydah North is that he is consdiering piloting a scheme where his Officers on patrol are allocated points in connection with their work. Suggested:
An arrest - 10 points
Issue of FPN for Disorder- 10 points
Vehicle seizure - TWENTY POINTS
Stop and search - 1 point
But if they provide false intelligence they will be docked five points.
The brass claim it is not for targets you understand but to identify areas where an Officer may need training.
.......ohhhh where are the aspirins.

Not sure what the fuss is about - everyone is accountable for the work they produce, this is simply another way of calculating.
How many burglers (housebreakers is Scotland) do you know bother to insure their cars? A seizure removes their transport.

Until they can amass the vast amount of about £50 to buy another one.
Or go nick one instead.
This is a fecking stupid idea. Why not simply allow the public to judge how well the police are doing? Oh wait, because we will tell them they are sh**e.
I don't want a points win prizes police force. I don't want a nice list of the best bobbies on the beat. I want them out, nicking scrotes...

Edited to ad and there's a vote (FWIW), currently at 93.33% against Dicky Brainstorm. I really do wonder how/why he keeps that job - really is a sad indicator of our times that such a muppet is in such a position of power.

""I'd rather the police nicked the burglars for their actual crimes. Accidentally catching a few for no-insurance is a piss-poor alternative.""
Yeah, great if they were actually sent to prison for their crimes. You would be surprised how many recidivist burglars/housebreakers actually spend more time in prison - therefore off our streets - for driving offences rather than crimes. Also, generally speaking, they aren't caught accidentally, more work is intelligence led that ever before. Even Road Policing Officers know how to target the bad guys!!

Because any system like this will be gerrymandered. It will be like the gerrymandering of crime stats, just on an individual level.

No and yes.
I have always assumed that there were already assessments in place that one might hope take in to account the success (perhaps) of a quiet patch as well as the city centre Sweeney brigade action men. Maybe the whole point thing is based on how many forms you can fill in per crime.
The problem with most measurement systems of this sort is in trying to define what measures are meaningful and what are complete rubbish. Often the answers are not so clear. At worst they are completely misleading as the Americans discovered when they based success ratios on how many building the B52s had flattened. Then wondered why the carpet bombing did not seem to be making much difference. Eventually the Secretary of State asked for numbers that were at least vaguely meaningful.
It seems that old lesson is a long time in the learning. Especially for Druids.

So surprise us with some statistics! And don't forget to show how long they spent inside - StreakyYeah, great if they were actually sent to prison for their crimes. Wish I had the time - need to find your local intelligence officer/statistician for that!!!
But seriously, I did read an article about a Force that calculated the time spent behind bars for its recidivists and more time had been spent due to RTA offences.
