Just saw this on ephotozine

"A team of scientists from Mitsubishi Electric have developed a prototype system that uses specially developed software and a second shutter that opens and closes rapidly to extract sharp images from blurred photos.

Moving objects or camera movement can cause motion blur in a conventional single exposure photograph, especially if an object is moving quickly, or if the exposure time is long.

The fluttering shutter preserves high-frequency detail within the image, which can then be decoded by software developed by the team.

Possible applications include traffic cameras, which could retrieve number plate details from speeding cars where flash is not possible. The technology will also filter down to consumer-level digital cameras, although this will take time."

I don’t know what kind of plates they have in the USA but this isn’t needed over here. ANPR uses a type of flashgun that we cannot see yet it is very effective with our retro-reflective plates.

Clever idea but would it be admissible as evidence?

Does it work on the old black-and-white plates when they have a bit of mud on them, or not, as the case may be?

Of course, it matters not how smart, how expensive, how clear the photo, if theres no plates on the car itll be a shite system.

This is where their plans always fall flat on their silly faces. No plates, no id, no problem.
The future is no plates, do what you want-(no trafpol to stop you), speed, drive on the pavement, stop and kick a scammer in the bollox if you want to they cant do jack if they cant id the car.
Idiots....rolleyes
