Road wars on Sky One
Discussion
Anyone else watch this?
Week after week i am staggered at how lenient the punishments are!
Community service for stealing a car and being chased on the wrong side of the road causing mayhem.
£1000 fine for no tax, insurance, licence and trying to escape the police at 100mph on the hard shoulder!
Why do i even bother buying insurance - the fines are much cheaper!

I know it may be the way the programme is edited, but a lot of the older cars they stop seem to be inhabited by congenital liars/cretins. Why deny who you are when the same copper nicked you a little while back? Or come up with the completely unoriginal 'Oh, I've just bought the car' when questioned re lack of tax disc/insurance? I suspect the BiB get really fed up with dealing with the same old crowd.

Pat 'n' Carl - top entertainment.
It's the bans people get when they have no licence that seem such nonsense to me.

The ban serves a purpose.
Drive with no licence, you can't be sent to prison.
Drive when banned, you can be sent to prison.

Because the people concerned have no money & it costs too much (no places) to send them to prison
I saw the program, really enjoy the traffic cop/road wars etc. type series. It frustrates me so much the cost and lengths that we go to to be legal and the penalties for not being so are so flipping minor!
I would imagine on the road that it is just frustration after frustration for the officers themselves? an officer, a car, 8 hours, for a £1000 fine?!

It does though because courts view disqualified driving as contempt of their order not to drive.
You've been given chances & the ultimate sanction awaits down the line. I've seen plenty of people get imprisoned for disqualified driving. Great way of getting burglars banged up & off the streets.

But you said it was too expensive to put em there and there were no places.......

They can't put you in for no insurance or no licence. But where you defy a court, blatantly perjure yourself to a court or try & have the justice system over by perverting the course of justice, then you may just find yourself sharing a cell.

Nearly 12,000 were sentenced to immeadiate custodial sentences in Englad & Wales during 2004 for disqualified driving, compared to 2,322 for excess alco.
