Not sure if anyone can help me here, but there's been a car sitting in my car park unmoved for about 6 months now. It's a mess, the tax is 4 months out of date and has a flat tyre, so clearly looks abandoned. The car park is private for my block of flats, and there are only just enough spaces for everyone to fit, so this ditched car really pisses me off. Anyone know of anything I can do to get it moved, etc? Since the tax is long gone it surely can't be legal to have it sitting there rusting away.

Tow it back out into the road, then ring the cops to tell them about an untaxed car parked on a public road. We had a car parked up down our road, phoned cops Thursday morning. They towed it away on Friday. Result...

you can get the council involved, that what we do here.
the only thing is that it can take several months to get it moved. that not really an issue here (apart from looking awful) as we have plenty of space, but the coucil will, and do remove abondoned cars if asked.

Can you report it stolen then report it abandoned the following day?

(By reporting stolen I mean report that it was seen with youths breaking into it or something so as not to have to know the identity of the owner.)

I am not suggesting or condoning making a false statement to the Police as this is almost as serious as speeding

Push it into the road, in a position where its creating an obstruction. Then complain to the police.

Wear gloves when you do it though

Quick and dirty answer is to remove the petrol cap and report that you have seen kids messing around with a fire hazard. Plod will have it moved ASAP whether it is on private land or not.

Have you enquired at all the other flats to find out if its owned by one of your neighbors ?, if it is & as you say its a private carpark then they have every right to leave it there don't they ?. If its looks offend you ,why don't you pump the tyre up & wash it
I cant believe all the other responses have been 'tow it out onto the road ', its possibly somebody's private property on private land , maybe the owner is working abroad ?
If you do move it & then it gets towed we might then see a thread on here 'MY CARS BEEN NICKED FROM A PRIVATE CARPARK'the thieving fcensoredkers

Yeah to be honest pushing it out onto the road would be near impossible without breaking into the car first to steer it out the gate. The only thing stopping me phoning the DVLA is the fact it could be declared SORN, but to be honest it doesn't seem to belong to anyone in the block of flats so it's a tough call. I'm really just hoping the usual result happens, with a bunch of kids realising its abandonned and smashing it up enough that the council take it away.

stick the number plate in the DVLA website. there is something there somewhere which will tell you, last tax, change of owner, if its SORN etc
at least i think its the DVLA site, i dont have a link for it anymore.

We reported one dumped outside our house to the council and they'd moved it within a couple of days. The trick appears to be to emphasise the impending catastophic situation unfolding in the very near future such as has been described with the kids and the matches and so on.

Doesn't seem ? hardly conclusive , you would have to be 100% sure

You said its a private car park = not councils business.
Somebody owns/manages the flat's & car park, contact them , its up to them to deal with it.
