There is a youngish guy in my area who is forever speeding about recklessly and one of these day I fear he is going to kill either himself or someone. The guy is an absolute menace... the only saving grace is that you can hear his exhaust about 3 seconds before he appears!

The other day he came up a hill at high speed (past a school), and near the top of the hill he turned right without even slowing down (it has limited visibility, so he wouldn't have stood a chance had anything 'suddenly' appeared on the other side of the road, I don't want to hazard a guess at it speed, but it did seem to be more than the 30 limit on the road, in addition to this, he had no seatbelt on (never seen him wear one) and was using a hand held mobile phone at the time.

If I get his reg, and pass it on to the police will they do anything about it?

Has not there been some publicity that Crimestoppers want such behaviour repoerted so that bad drivers can be sorted out.

Go to it and report and make sure a record is made.

Your conscience salved.

Definitely report him. Chances are he has no licence, tax or insurance.

I think the fact that he drives like a tw@t may be more important than the technicalities. I can't help thinking that borrowing someones old Rangie and anticipating tw@tboys recklessness might have more, er, impact on his behaviour.

Lack of insurance could be important in the aftermath of an accident but otherwise I agree with you.

The car in question is a souped up Saxo, with a very noisy exhaust. There is sometimes a woman driving it, be then she is usually belted up and driving in a more sedate manner, and she does tent to slow down for corners etc!

He on the other hand is just a lunatic, next time I see him I will get his reg and report it, and I will keep on reporting it until I see it stop, there are too many kids round here for that type of driving, and it's only a matter of time before he finds one of them.

I know exactly what you mean, but reading that you could substitute some old dear campaigning for a 20mph limit and speed cameras!

Section 59 should help sort this one, if enough people complain, they should investigate, and hopefully impound the car.

Report him - if they get multiple reports about the same car they can take action, even if it is just a chat. My wife reported someone once for cutting her up, they wouldn't take action on that alone but if some more people reported the same person they said they could.

Try to sort out if there's a regular time of day that the guy drives up a particular road, ie coming home from work etc, then report him giving that info. That means that should there be a BiB free around that time, they have a chance to catch him "in the act" so to speak, rather than just by chance

Just get him to drive past a camera at 35 in a 30 zone...the cops will be all over him like a rash to get their £60.

Get the number plate and report to the police. Is everyone else in the village o f the same mind - that he's a dangerous maniac? If so, then it'd be easier to get some sort of police action.

Calm down. That's what safety cameras are for. They make everything safe. I'm a little fuzzy on the exact details but I know they're doing a really good job of making us all safe. Otherwise they wouldn't keep putting them up, right?

Get a bright pink lipstick, sneak out in the middle of the night and scrawl "slow down" all over his car - especialy the windscreen.

If only the cops did get the £60 they could put more patrols on the street and stop this idiot. Sadly it will go to some neds holiday as funded by the MP's

Deltafox should get his facts right before jumping on his high horse. Plod get nothing from motoring fines......

Quickly pull your mobile phone out of your pocket and make like you are filming his bad behaviour, it does'nt matter whether you are filming or not the chances are he will slow down.

Result.

They'll do absolutely nothing whatsoever, at all, ever. You'd be completely wasting your time.

I doubt the police will do anything about it I am afraid. You could always ask them to set up a speed trap during the time of day you know this chap drives in the area. They may consider it. Risk vs Reward. Risk, copper spends day at side of road vs reward, £60 FPN * say 10 motorists = viable proposition.

I asked the police to do this as there were loads of people driving at 40-50 mph past the school in my street in our old house, sadly usually the parents on the school run. I was pleased to see, just one week later, the police speed trap, just two roads away on a nice long straight, nicking people left right and centre.
