Smashing rear window!

Hi guys,

I was watching Road Wars last night and it showed footage of a car chase on the motorway. The stolen car was stopped with only a driver in it (i think!). The police drivers got him boxed in on the motorway and managed to stop the car.

A couple of coppers ran to the car doors to get the driver out, then another copper ran up with his batton in his hand and smashed the rear window ? Then went to help the guys at the front of the car get the driver out?

Why do they smash the window? There was no-one in the back seat of the car? Is this just to confuse and scare the driver?

Scroats do at time lock the doors to stop plod getting hold of them.

Maybe the front Plod said that the door was locked so rear window put through, door lock relase button lifted and access gained?

He seemed to smash it on the way to the front of the car?

It was the rear windscreen, not a rear door window, sorry if that wasn't explained very well!

cause he was on camera & wanted to look hard? could well have just been to put scrote off as door was opened though.

I think thats what it must have been!

The commentator on the program said the police were pretty pumped up, so maybe smashing up the window stopped him from smashing up the scrote!

I'm sure I heard that it is to distract the scrote while other officers attend to the chap.

Means the flustered oik is less likely to be concentrating on making further getaway attempts or reaching for a weapon.

It's done to dis-orientate the offender and cause additional confusion ..... an added distraction.

Yeah the bastards didn't even offer to pay for a new rear screen for me.

I did get a nice meal in her maj's hotel though.
