Haven't been caught, but if I am doing say 99MPH on a m/way, is it just a fine and points? Does the ban only come into play if doing over 100MPH. Also, what about normal roads with 30/40 limit?

Court summons and possible ban for 96 and above on mway. FPN for 79-95. Off a scammer.

Anything from a b*ll*cking to a ban from TrafPol.

An indicated 100 is probably 96 in a non calibrated car, so its probably borderline.

That is pretty much exactly what it is on mine when comparing the speedo to the GPS. In fact on mine its 95 when the speedo says 100.

Thus, it is in your best interests to cruise at 95 rather than 96!!!

Risky game is "probably" - some speedos are more accurate than others.

Dont worry, if its an automatic ban, you can still drive a manual.

4 years ago, I got a NIP through my letterbox for 104mph on the M6 in Cumbria.

Wrote to the court - nice letter, pleading innocence :-p and got 6 points plus £400. Phew!!!

i have been caught twice, first time @ 111 m.p.h. overtaking, then back down to 78,got a three month ban with points, second time 133 on empty m/way got three months and no points?????
so it seems it`s also down to luck at court.
or tell them its a tvr and the throttle got jammed or something, you might get lucky!
