I have scoured the net after being flashed by a forward facing tuvelo on the A361 at Byfield. Everything I can find says that Tuvelos do not flash because they use infared. This was a single flash. Anyone come across this?

They do flash, but use a magenta coloured filter so it looks red.

Could it have been, by any chance, the sun reflecting off the lense

You now have two weeks to wait to find out

Only the Truvelo DCAM uses an invisible IR flash.

This is the Truvelo Combi SMC:

Colour receptors aren't good away from the cornea (i.e. peripheral vision). It's plausible you simply could have not seen the colour properly if you weren’t looking straight at the camera when it flashed.

This happened to mea couple of years ago, without a doubt it was a bright white flash.I tried to get to the bottom of it to no avail, lets just say the scameraship was not exactly helpful! What really got to me was that it was bloody dangerous being flashed face on at very close quarters!

...especially when travelling at "dangerous" speeds, sounds like a recipe for an accident to me.

Surely you mean "especially when near a known accident black spot"?
