Own dumb, stupid, fault. banghead

Almost certainly caught on a mobile camera van at the end of a dual carriageway.

I already have 6 points. 3 points recent, 3 due off the licence in December.

Go on, give me the bad news somebody.

Yup, you'll be banned.

Sorry, but as you say, your own stupid fault and no I'm not going to sympathise.

Yes we all go over the speed limit a few times, myself included, but 60 in a 30?

Aye well it's easy if you're coming off a fast dc to a restricted zone.

It depends if the 30 is justified and on conditions at the time, shirley?

Back to the OPs post, it's going to worth getting a solicitor I suspect.

unlucky they love it at the end of the dual carriage way,had a similiar thing myself. But all is not lost you might get a stat fine.Best thing to do is give motor defence team a ring it costs 35 quid and your put straight through to a solictor and they tell you the facts.I used them there good .At least you know what your up against.

Thanks Bint, wasn't looking for any sympathy.

I've no excuse.

Just looking for a ball park fine/ban figure in order to try and pre-empt the inevitable fall out that will occur in my business.

Things look a little bleak, just trying to get to grips with what I can expect.

I got a 28 day ban and £200 fine (no points) for 65 in a 30 (previously squeaky clean license). The points equivalent would have been 6 I think so if your court date comes before the removal of 3 of your current 6 points that would not be good. The time between my offence and day in court was about 3 months. You’ll have to get your legal chappy to put forward a case why you shouldn’t loose your license then you may get 5 points and be on 11!! Or, you could try for a 28 day ban. I wasn’t relying on a car for transport at the time so got my man to go towards the 28 day ban rather than being stuck with 6 points for a few years. Ultimately it is down to the court but you can try to steer them gently Obviously it depends on the circumstances of your offence, although 65 in a 30 sounds obscene initially.... the road was a dual carriageway (in town hence the limit), it was 8pmish midweek so very quiet, it was dry and sunny, I didn’t pass any junctions and didn’t overtake anyone so there was never any question of charging me with anything other than speed. Actually that’s probably not relevant to you as I got caught by a real life policeman with an LTI rather than a camera....amazing I know! Just some thoughts....

ps - or you could just pay a Nick Freeman type to pull some fancy legal manoeuvre hehe

Fantastic idea, although not a mate perhaps but a wife.. someone who's on the insurance.

Ask for the image from a front facing camera first, see if they can prove it was you driving?

Unfortunately, I dont think its up to them to prove who was driving. They will send you the picture, but its only to prove the reg, and help you decide who was driving, even if your face is blocked - say sun visor, it makes no odds.

As said, visit pepipoo and get a solicitor.

Isn't a ban worse for your driving history (Insurance etc) than 6 points?

o mannn... guess I wasnt the only unlucky one yesterday - not sure how much tougher they are overseas but if a patrol car saw you doing that (edit - here in the US) it wouldve been hell to pay for sure...
I had a veeery close call and if it werent for an oncoming car tippin me off I surely wouldve been lookin at a suspended liscense...

Remember a ban could mean that you can't hire a car from some rental firms for 5 - 10 years. Worth considering.

its 30 for a reason, if your doing double that then you'll get what you deserve.

even though ive been guilty of hooning across europe at stoopid speeds I (and the guys Ive hooned with) say no overtaking/speeding in built up areas, its not big or funny.

Not neccesarily true.

There are some absurd 30's out there since sensible thinking got replaced with knee jerk bollox.
