As I understand it - tell me if I'm wrong - PACE statements are currently neutralised by a privy council ruling, and that ruling is being challenged in the European courts, but that challenge has been delayed by the European courts until the O'Halloran court hearing on 27th September?

So is PACE still worth using? Also - what impact will O'Halloran have (whichever way it goes) ?

Your question doesnt make much sense to me? What do you mean by PACE statements?

I think from your post you misunderstand what PACE is or maybe how it effects us at work.

PACE is simply a piece of legislation, in others words, a bit of law, no different from the Theft Act that say we can't steal, the Road Traffic Act that says we need to comply with Road Signs etc.

All that the European courts do is make a judgement on how we have interpreted our bit of law, despite lots of press to the contry, if our law in our country say you cannot do something that protects us against the European ruling although obviously we take note of their views and our laws get tweeked over time to adapt to their rulings.

He's referring (I think) to the PACE loophole, which as far as I know is still a pretty good defence against the S172...

Yes, that's what I'm referring to. The "loophole" by which you exercise your right not to be forced to incriminate yourself. Which for some bizarre reason is considered to be perfectly acceptable when it comes to speeding allegations.
