When Do Points Fall Off?

I know it's three years, but I have three from being caught in November 2003, the case was taken to court (waste of tax payers money) in April 2004? Will they drop off in November?
Depends what the offence is.
The points are valid for 3 years for totting purposes, but remain physically on the licence for longer.
Endorsements must remain on a licence for 11 years from date of conviction if the offence is:
* drinking/drugs and driving (shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80)
* causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink/drugs (shown on the licence as CD40, CD50 and CD60)
* causing death by careless driving, then failing to provide a specimen for analysis (shown on the licence as CD70)
Endorsements must remain on a licence for four years from date of conviction if the offence is:
* reckless/dangerous driving (shown on the licence as DD40, DD60 and DD80)
* offences resulting in disqualification
* disqualified from holding a full licence until a driving test has been passed
Endorsements must remain on a licence for four years from the date of offence in all other cases.

From date of conviction I think. Which would be the court date when appropriate or else the date of offence if you accept a FPN.
I'm quite sure it's the date of the offences and NOT the date of the hearings which is relevant. Heck, still got another 28 months for my 3 points to drop off...
ooops, re-read the post. wasn't aware that if you contested it, the court date is used.

Hang about, isn't using the court date instead of the offence date even more intimidation on the part of the speed mullahs? "oh by the way sir you know that it'll take a bit longer to get your licence clean if you contest this, now be a good boy and pay up"

Hold on a sec, from what Vonhosen wrote, it would be assumed that a speeding case ie not one of the specific exceptions he put would be on your licence for 4 years from the date of OFFENCE?
It's 3 points, SP50 - it went to court because it was at 97mph, despite me saying I was guilty of driving too fast on an empty road! So, I was caught in November, went to court in April 2004.
My driving without due care (after being harrassed by a police car at Midnight along the M1) got me eight points, caught in January 2005, went to court November 2005...
Thanks for all your help btw, most appreciated!

I'm lost. Why were you doing 97mph?
Whats an empty road got to do with it?
What do you mean harrassed by a police car? Was it shouting abuse at you or perhaps it was doing what you were doing "driving on a road at midnight"
If it was the latter you might find they are allowed to do that.
Confused!

Perhaps because it was a perfectly safe and reasonable thing to do.

It supports the position that driving at 97mph was a perfectly safe and reasonable thing to do.
We don't have much respect for assanine and oppressive laws, like the blanket speed limit, here.
