25mph in a 30 zone, whats all that about?.
Discussion
Is it just me or does this happen to you?, you are driving along in a 30mph zone doing about 30 (cough cough) when you catch up to someone doing 28mph, there is a speed camera up ahead and this person in front of you slows down to 25mph just for good measure then takes about 60 seconds to get back up to 29mph.
Whats the point of that, have they started giving money back for motorists going under the speed limit.

But it could also be because his/her speedo overreads by a lot,
If your speedo says X miles per hour then you physically MUST be doing less than that - speedo's by law must not under-read, they can over-read though (by up to 10%), meaning that if it says 35mph you could only be doing 32mph

They must be dead on, or under. No over-reading allowed.

Under-reading ...
However a non working speedo is not an MOT failure and on the other hand anyone changing wheel and tyre specs may want to check the results of that against the speedo reading, especially if they have gone a little extreme.
Every day muppets do the panic thing on the A1 north near Sandy - it's a 60 with a very visable camera and tons of 60 signs. Loads of people must think it's 50 as they see the camera and then brake to 45 just to be sure.
I travel through Kimbolton every day and it is fairly wide, few houses but a 30 with the limit written on the road a lot and again tons of signs. It does have regular Plod/hairdryers so always stick the Saab on cruise and then look where I am going - so why, oh why do people give me so much hassle, climbing all over my bumper and the old half pulling out trick - there are plenty of straight bits to pass but instead they try to bully you to go faster. If I am at the front of the queue I get zapped not them so maybe that is the answer. I find it really annoying as I am actually making it easier for them to keep their tickets clean, all they have to do is follow and relax - I do take great pleasure in burying the throttle at the GLF sign and blasting off in a slug of turboed torque though!

IMO Usually the type of person that does this, doesn't look in their mirror often enough, I get the impression that they are concentrating so much on driving forwards that taking their eyes off the road ahead to look at things like mirrors and speedo are just not on, so they use they timid(driving) common sense to judge their speed, then when they get the driver behind flashing at them to get a move on they bandy words about like "30 is a limit not a target".
My advice would be to this type of driver is get ride of those 19" wheels because you've got the wrong size tyres (thats said in jest by the way), or get your speedo checked out.
Oh yes and slower does not mean safer, if it did why don't you drive at 10mph.

You lucky thing.
I do have to put up with the B645 and B660 twice a day, well someone has to do it and it would be rude not to have a little dibble...
Haven't they bypassed Kimbolton yet?
Still got that ridiculously tight bend at the eastern end of the main street?

What happens to me is the person ahead of me in the 30 zone pulls away because they are doing 40 and I'm doing 30. However, as soon as I enter an NSL and get up to 60 I catch up with them very quickly because they're still doing 40!

All the
ing time and it really pisses me off. We've a run of eight (yes eight, posted on either side of the road) cameras on less than a mile of 30 mph limited road. Traffic calming devices - islands, bollards, road narrows bits - left, right and centre. OK, it's a fairly straight stretch of road and used to be a 40 limit. But eight cameras?
So I regularly crawl up the road at 25 mph behind Mr Cautiousdriver. Who slows to 20 as he or she goes through each camera in the zone.
Oddly, the only deaths (as a result of RTAs I have heard of on this area or road (I've lived around here for 15 years) occured half a mile up the road, outside a pub.
It's a funny old world.

That's me you're talking about. The cameras have me scared and I crawl by at just under the limit, however the rest of the time the speed limit is a target as it MUST be safe else the limits would be lowered.
