83mph? Unlucky.
But it's standard fayre for 3 points and £60. Typically (or so I'm advised) Trafpol's FPN remit is 80mph to 95mph. I'm told that anything less falls below "10% + 2" territory and just gets you a ticking off (unless you man-up and act like a d
k with the BiB), and anything over "limit + 25mph" is an automatic summons.
As for "overtaking a Micra", I wouldn't even bother raising it in court, I doubt that they'll care. Speeding is an absolute charge, you either were or weren't. Anything else is just mitigation for determining sentence.

How do you suggest he goes about that? What will allow him to avoid a prosecution for failing to name the driver?
Edit: do you mean that he should attempt to pervert the course of justice by naming someone he knows wasn't driving? If so perhaps you'll chip in for the soap on a rope he'll need as well?

He has a cousin in Australia doesn't he. What is to stop his cousin being on a visit here and driving his car. Or he lent his car to a prospective buyer for a test drive. There are plenty more examples. Don't forget the most important thing, you don't have to prove a thing, they HAVE to prove that you were the driver. And another thing to remember, they are not going to take a camera van crew who have no court experience off the road to try and gain £60 from you when they would be earning thousands sitting by the side of the road. I have got away with it 7 times in the last 3 years. If you just want to surrender your driving licence thats fine with me.
