Just to redress the "ACAB" balance....

I was "making progress" up the M23 at about 04:30 this morning and on the approach to the M25 I could clearly see a marked volvo on the "perch". Being close to Gatwick the road is fairly busy at all times and all the traffic had slowed to about 80. I kept an eye on him as we went past and he didn`t seem to move. However, less than half a mile up the road I saw somethingsteaming up behind me. As I was catching a slower car i indicated to move to lane 2. At that point the blue lights came on so off we went to the hard shoulder.

I stopped, put my hiviz on, got out and stood by the armco. Trafpol (without hi viz strangely enough) came over. Told me I had a headlight out and also a tail light. Took my licence and did the usual checks, came back said "get the lights fixed before tomorrow please, get your tax disc in the window, and get off to work".

what a thouroughly nice bloke

Oh and before I get a lecture, both headlights were working when i left home (park nose in to a wall) and they`re so crap you wouldn`t notice if one went out, and the tail light was a dodgy connection (came back on when i whacked it).

More trafpol please (if he had been a camera I would now be the proud owner of 3 points.)

Trafpol eh? Probably had done his fair share of tickets for the night and was now looking for a prisoner ... you didn't smell of booze, you weren't shown as wanted or disqual and there were no interesting warning markers on you or your vehicle - probably just wanted to move quickly onto the next one

Don't know what you meant by that Moley but thats what I do - I'm not interested in pissing off decent people by reporting them for petty offences, I'm more interested in catching drink drivers / drug dealers / disqual drivers / wanted criminals etc etc and I will make their life as hellish as I can
I was joking. It was the 'fair share of tickets' comment that inspired me.

My inspiration is misguided a lot. Who'd have thought nibbling a girls arse would get me in trouble, damn those friendly dogs.

Anyway, the way I read it to say that was: 'trafpow had enough tickets so the ccensoredt could araaarrnndd, dain what the fack he loiked.'

Or something.

Gatwick at 04.30 a good place to pick up pilots and cabin crew with their lowered legal limits for arrest
