4 day old new Audi and my wife had an incident with the driveway wall (nice arguement with the wife!)

Still to confirm cost of damage but just say it is £1,000, she has 6 years no claim and no claims protection, my question is, If we make claim (we have to pay £250 excess) is there any future downside to making the claim, example: say she has an incident in 2 Months time, will they pay out again? or any extra premiums to pay next year, etc, etc

Thanks

The insurance co will always have to pay up again if you have ano incident in the period of the insurance policy - unless there are some wierd T's&C's in the policy.

The terms of the ncb protection will tell you what happens there.

The premium is likely to go up next time as the risk is higher having had a prang.

Most people think that by not claiming they dont have to tell their ins co about the prang. You are sposed to, even if you dont claim.

just because your ncb is protected your premium will still go up as your are always asked if your have had any accidents or claims and each claim is treated seperately ,
you have a legal obligation to tell the ins co all material facts no matter if your claiming or not

unless you want to claim your house ins and say the wall belted your car

I would get a calculator out and work out what, over 5 years, the claim will cost you.

For 5 years (with most companies) you will have to declare you have had a claim and they will load your premium.

OK, if your NCB is protected then you will get a %age of that reduced but your premium will still be higher.

For mine and my wifes cars, which both cost about £450 to insure we would need to make a claim of about £2000 to make it worth doing it as she would get loaded on her policy and as a named driver on mine then that policy would go up also.

Depends on your personal circs.

many years ago my father had a morris traveller which got nicked from outside the house , we never knew it was nicked until the boys in blue rang up and told us . how things have changed ! anyway the insurance bloke came out and said " i have your claim form here and although we will pay the pre write off value for the car it wont be worth your while claiming but as you are i will also make sure you are compensated for the toolbox and golfclubs which were in the boot " ????? " that should double your payout and recover the costs of your premium increasing next year " oh right thanks i forgot about those just aswell you reminded me .
whatever happened , i won't mention the company he worked for but i think they were part of a co-operative.
