So, common sense remains alive and well in the Police Federation if not in the higher echelons of ACPO. Even so it looks like the politically astute but maverick druid realises that his master's voice is calling for more prison space so we can expect further yipyapping from this particularly oddball lapdog.

Should the police be not only police but judge and jury as well for more and more offences? I say no.

Too much chance of abuse of process. In fact, makes it highly probable that there will be many such abuses.

There does appear to be a depressing tendency amongst some in the Police Force towards totalitarianism, based on a "we know best what's good for you" attitude. Evidence of it has been detected on PH of late.

Hmmm...normally I support the police wholeheartedly, and this IS a stupid idea, but THAT has a lot of merit for those individuals!

Me: Are you going to issue me with an FPN for the speed I was just doing?
SCP Goon: Yes, you were dangerously speeding at 4mph over the limit, think of the children!!!
Me: Fine, have my boot in your knackers...and here's the £60 to compensate!
